Inter-institutional Transfer (Transfer from Universities Abroad)

(1) According to GPA, at least two semesters (1 year) in undergraduate programs excluding foreign language preparatory classes in other higher education institutions in Turkey and abroad; In associate degree programs, transfer applications of students who have studied for at least 1 semester can be accepted. Transfer to the Faculty of Medicine can only be made at the beginning of the academic year.

(2) Applicants for lateral transfer applications from programs whose medium of instruction is Turkish to programs with a compulsory foreign language class must be successful in the foreign language proficiency exam to be held by OSTİM Technical University or must have obtained a score at the level of success determined in the national or internationally valid foreign language exams. .

(3) Application for lateral transfer between institutions according to GPA;

  1. a) It cannot be applied to undergraduate programs in the interim periods.
  2. b) It cannot be applied for the first two semesters and the last two semesters of undergraduate programs.
  3. c) Undergraduate programs can only be applied at the beginning of the academic year (3rd and 5th semesters).

ç) It cannot be applied for the first and last semesters of associate degree programs.

  1. d) It can only be done in the 2nd and 3rd semesters of associate degree programs.

(4) The GPA must be at least 70 out of 100 or at least 2.72 out of 4.00 for the Faculty of Medicine, at least 60 out of 100 or at least 2.29 out of 4.00 for other undergraduate and associate degree programs.

(5) Students with unsuccessful course(s) can apply for lateral transfer between institutions.

(6) Students studying at universities that accept students according to special talent exams can apply for horizontal transfer between institutions. In lateral transfers between institutions to the programs that accept students with a special talent exam, among other conditions, the condition of being successful in the aptitude test is sought.

(7) From associate degree programs to undergraduate programs; Transfers between institutions cannot be made from undergraduate programs to associate degree programs according to the grade point average.

(8) In order to apply for lateral transfer between institutions, the candidate must not have received any disciplinary action, excluding warning and reprimand, according to his grade point average.

(9) Additional application requirements for candidates who will apply from universities abroad are listed below.

  1. a) They must have taken the ÖSYS exam in the year they were accepted to the university abroad or the previous year. SAT, ACT, Abitur, Baccalaureate etc. without ÖSYS exam results. Submission of other exam documents is not sufficient for application.
  2. b) They must have the minimum placement score of other universities in the country equivalent to the relevant score type of the program they wish to apply for.
  3. c) Students must also meet the rank requirement determined by YÖK for the relevant program, if any.

(10) Among the candidates who could not take the ÖSYS exam, those who were educated in the top 500 universities in the Times ranking with QS, and those who successfully completed at least the second year, excluding the preparatory class, are placed in the 3rd year in undergraduate programs with a 4-year education period, and in the 3rd year in undergraduate programs with a 5-year education period. Students can apply for lateral transfer to the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades in undergraduate programs with a 6-year education period, and to the 3rd semester in associate degree programs.

(11) Turkish nationals and foreign students who have completed their secondary education abroad and started higher education abroad;

  1. a) It is not required to have taken the ÖSYS exam in the year they were accepted to the university abroad or the previous year, and to have the minimum placement score of other universities in the country equivalent to the relevant score type of the program they want to apply for.

Who Cannot Make a Horizontal Transfer?

Candidates enrolled in higher education institutions abroad cannot apply for horizontal transfer according to their central placement score (within the scope of Annex Article 1) (except for TRNC and foreign higher education institutions included in the ÖSYS Guide).
Those who entered the ÖSYS and settled in a higher education institution in Turkey or the TRNC, but started their education in a higher education institution abroad with their own means without registering, cannot apply for horizontal transfer according to their central placement score (within the scope of Additional Article 1).
Those who have been suspended due to academic reasons or disciplinary punishment,
Those who study at a university not recognized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) or students who are not placed in that university according to the procedures determined by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK),
Students who study or graduate from two-year higher education programs cannot transfer to four-year undergraduate programs.
